As Head of Tokyo International Public School (TIPS), I wish to extend a warm welcome to all our families. We are very proud of the unique educational environment we have developed for early childhood development.
TIPS prides itself on its Montessori curriculum with a creative environment to meet each child's learning needs and maximize abilities, ambitions, and academic potential in everything a child does. The Montessori Method is a systematic approach to the education of children. It is much more than a method of childcare or general schooling. It is a whole attitude of care and respect for children. Montessori students develop independence, responsibility, concentration, respect, patience and, most importantly, a love of learning.
The Montessori approach to education is child-centered and is based on mutual respect and cooperation. The teacher in a Montessori classroom is more of a guide and facilitate or respecting the concentration and varied learning approaches of the children. Non-aggression and non-interruption, tolerance and concern for others are stressed.
At TIPS, we provide a happy and safe environment within which children can experience opportunities beyond the classroom so that they can become independent learners and responsible and confident adults. We cultivate values of courtesy, consideration, and individual responsibility and provide both challenge and support for our little ones. With gentle care, we help to shape their young minds to be ready for the world that is waiting to meet them.

Welcome to Tokyo International Public School (TIPS)! I am Jay Shankar, the co-founder and director of TIPS. With a passion for education and a vision to provide the best learning environment for children, I am dedicated to creating a truly exceptional educational experience at our school.
Education has always been a cornerstone of my life. Bring a proud alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, I have developed a deep understanding of the importance of a holistic approach to education.
As an educator at heart, I strongly believe in the power of knowledge to shape the future. After completing my studies, I made a life-changing decision to embark on a journey to Japan, where I have resided for over two decades. Immersed in the rich cultural tapestry of Japan, I developed a deep appreciation for the values of discipline, hard work, and attention to detail that are ingrained in Japanese society.
The inception of Tokyo International Public School (TIPS) was driven by my desire to create an inclusive learning community that celebrates diversity, fosters creativity, and provides a nurturing environment for children from different cultural backgrounds. TIPS aims to bridge the gap between the Japanese and international communities by offering a world-class education in an English medium.
At TIPS, we understand the importance of early childhood education and the role it plays in shaping young minds. Our Montessori-inspired curriculum encourages hands-on learning, independence, and critical thinking skills. We strive to create a stimulating environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.
As the co-founder and director of TIPS, my primary goal is to provide visionary leadership and ensure the highest standards of education are upheld.
